Ummm…okay.

So, eliminating Amtrak as a [ahem] “class I road,” might it be accurate to claim the “Yellowbonnet” scheme was the last new passenger livery developed by a class I railroad in U.S. history?

If Amtrak’s very existence is our sole point of contention, I’d presume the answer would be “yes.”

One could reasonably argue that the Burlington Northern Cascade Green and black with the thick white stripe as found on E8/E9’s in Chicago suburban service did come later, some time after March 1, 1970.
