I was pretty sure it was late '50s, but I wanted to make sure. This is something I should know, but wasn’t sure. I am still a fool for the zebras, though. Thanks!!

I thought it was 1960 when the new bookends paint scheme was introduced on the then new SD24s, RSD-15s, and GP20s. The 1959 deliveries of the SD24s and RSD-15s were still in Zebra Stripes.

The first deliveries of the RSD15 & SD24’s were indeed in the ‘Zebra Stripe’ scheme, From what I have read, the RSD15’s were all delivered in the ‘Zebra Stripe’ scheme.

SD24’s 900-944 were delivered in the ‘Zebra Stripe’ scheme in the May/June 1959 time frame. SD24’s 945-979 were delivered in the ‘Book Ends’ paint scheme in May/June of 1960.

The GP20’s were all delivered in 1960, in the blue/yellow ‘Book Ends’ paint scheme.

Jim BTW, why are these years old threads being pulled up?

Who the heck brought up a 7 year old thread in which the answer to the question was provided in the very first reply?

Rich

I have noticed this for the last couple months. I suspected someone was doing a Google search and replied to the msg - But they just appear out of the blue. In this case it was 2007. After I posted an updated answer, I noticed how old this was! A new ‘feature’ of the forum software?

Jim

LOL

I knew you wouldn’t do it, Jim.

What I wish is that the forum software would lock a thread after one year with no replies.
