Santa Fe Heavyweight Passenger Cars

Hey everyone,

Just looking for some more advice. I am just now beginning to put in benchwork for my new layout and I am spending some of my extra time searching for locomotives and rolling stock for the layout. Because it is 1950’s SF and UP modeling, I’m looking mostly for some F7A-B or A-B-B-A units for freight and passenger, 2-10-2 helpers, streamlined passengers, and especially some heavyweight pullmans. Those specific models have been giving me the most problem as the expensive Walthers versions are out of stock everywhere I look. If anyone has advice on where to find any of these, that would be awesome. Oo, and maybe a streamlined Union Pacific too to represent the Los Angeles Ltd. Thanks in advance

The old (1970’s era) Rivarossi heavyweight combine, diner, and lounge-observation are modeled after ATSF prototypes (the Rivarossi 12-1 Pullman could be used on the SF, while the coach was strictly Southern Rwy). You can find these cars used, in good condition, if you go to swap meets and haunt e-bay. They do need upgrades such as better wheels and couplers, but if you are buying used, the work will likely have been done already.

I’m sure you can find the Walters Pullmans somewhere! Did you try e-bay?
