PBS just mentioned the same. Does anyone know anything ? Saw a picture of them in front of a Santa FE BOXCAR.
And…
Just what are we talking about?
Was it a band of Santa Fe Indians putting their logo on a boxcar?[:^)]
No this was actually a band that played many gigs around the southwest supported by the ATSF. The band was called the Santa FE Indian band. There were other Indian bands out west including one that was called the Sousa band that played JP Sousa band songs .

Quick search turned up this.
And I thought the topic was the Santa Fe Indian Steel Gang…OOOPS!
Thanks a bunch, Ed. I go to that link and now I’ll have that Eagles song running through my head for a while.[:^)]
Now I have a better understanding. Thanks!
My engineer was humming the Banana Boat song, (Day-O) this morning, and….
I hate when this happens!

[:-,] Ed, as long as that classic Harry Belafonte tune is running through your head, it occurs to me that you (and your engineer) could probably come up with railroad-oriented lyrics for it . . . [swg]
