I stumbled - how literally, you would not believe - across this earlier this morning, and while I skimmed only a few pages, it seem too good not to call to the atttention of those of you who are fans of the ATSF, the Barriger clan, western US railroads,more-or-less recent railroad history, etc. It is his 1949 thesis that was submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for his Bachelor of Science degree - it looks like in the then-Department of Business and Engineering Administraiton - at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It totals 428 pages, and consists of approx. 27.3 MB in the ‘PDF’ format version, so it will likely take quite a while to download. So click on it and go out for lunch or something, and take a look when you get back.
