Santa Fe

Watching a video of train chasing.

I noticed the seperation of cargo containers. It was more than half less than 3/4 container.

What ever happened to Santa Fe’s 6 or 10 pack articulated unit cars?

There was very little spacing between containers. Even at the couplers the space was close.

The Santa Fe 10 packs were retired in the early to mid 1990s. They were set up with space for 45’ trailers and by the time they were retired longer trailers were being used.

Gee it was a very good concept.

it is a wonder they did not adopt it to containers.

All the had to do is get rid of the wheel wells and entend the frames and place hold downs at the different container lengths.

This concept has to weigh a lot less than the converted gondolla versions.
