An irregular series on constructing an HO bandsaw mill from an old Keystone Locomotive works kit:
Well, it’s the first day of spring, so what I set out as my “winter project” ought to be drawing to a close. That is generally the case, and I am running out of parts that need to be added to the building.
The roof is now complete. The roof can be removed/lifted in three separate sections.

Additionally, the side of the building that will be toward the front of the layout has portions of the roof made from clear plexiglass. Casual visitors can thus view the interior detail without having to remove the roof. While this gives an odd appearance initially (real roofs are not glass), the eye adapts to it pretty readily and it saves wear & tear while allowing folks to appreciate the detail work. I have the same sort of clear roof panels on the planing mill of my sawmill complex and over two stalls of my roundhouse. The un-attached siding panel in the view below is still loose to allow positioning of the chain that is part of the jackslip.

Yet to go is building the jackslip (the trough where logs enter the mill) and then the positioning of final interior details such as the workmen.
