Scale Shops Turnout Controllers

Does any know anything about or had experience with the Scale Shops turnout controllers? They appear to be very competitively priced when purchsed in kit form. Their web address is: www.scaleshops.com

My experience is that it is hard to slow them down. They are indeed nicely priced especially if you buy them unassembled. The materials and design are good. The supplier suggests putting a number of diodes in series with the power supply to slow the units down.Trouble is, running them at extremely low voltage like this reduces the torque of the motor. I was thinking about building a pulsed DC source which being a series of closely spaced 12 volt spikes would tend to break the motor loose if it got to a stickly spot in the mechanism. I never got around to that and bought a bunch of switch machines from aspenmodel.com instead. These work pretty good.

I would recommend you buy one of the scale shops turnout motors and see if it works for you.
