Can anyone tell me if Scale Trax can be cut to fit a specific location? I’d rather not learn the hard way…[:D]

Sort of. There is a section of Flex Track available. Connectors (lockons) are required. Stuff is pretty light weight and is pretty much impossible to mate with any other track system like Gargaves/Atlas.
But is there a problem if I’m only using Scale Trax, and not mating to other brands?
The product was meant to be used as a sectional track system. Like a computer GUI (graphic user interface), what you see is all you get. The product has a limited line of turnouts and the flex track will be more difficult to fit in then Gargraves or Atlas flex.
If you like to use sectional track, use Atlas. If you want the maximum availability of turnots use Gargraves/Ross/Curtis. These products also have adapters to allow them to “interface” so you can mix and match.

There’s no problem if you really like scale trax and are committed to using it. The problem is it’s the least popular of all the tracks. Many places don’t carry it and you might have difficulty getting it. Since the line isn’t doing well it’s not likely to be expanded. It might wind up going the was of Lionel Tru-track if market conditions get tighter and MTH is forced to make cuts. You should think in these terms if you’re planning to expand your layout in the future.
