Scale $

Sure looks like there are some government bean counters on this forum, taking what is obviously a simple matter and adding complications to it for the pure joy of being number crunchers.

The ONLY thing that you could multiply by 87 is the price, as that is strictly apples to apples. Weight and height have no bearing here at all. Now I know why engineers-and I don’t mean the kind that drive trains- and accountants are about one step from lawyers!

Nope. You have to divide by the CUBE of the scale reduction. That 200 tonner would come in at 9.68 ounces in HO - still another meaningless statistic.

I realize that, but 9oz is not as funny as 4597lbs. Work with me here.[:D]

So, if we are talking scale money here, then $1.00 in the real world is really only $ 0.01149 in HO 1:87 scale money conversion.

Since $1.00 in 1:1 ratio is still $1.00, then $1.00 in 1:87 ratio is actually only $0.01149, or 1.149 cents converted.
