Has anyone had any experience with Scalecoat II number 2084, UP Hopper Car Gray? Im thinking about getting some but would like to know how close it matches before I do. Thanks

No experience with Scalecoat II but I did recently get Scalecoat I for the 2-tone green BC Rail scheme. This is my first experience with Scalecoat and I found the following:
- the colours were pretty close but the light green was a little light - but this is a notoriously hard colour to match and the prototypes seem to have a variety of shades
- you must use the Scalecoat thinner to dilute for airbrushing
- the finish has a semigloss finish which I was alarmed at to start with till I realized this made decalling easy and finishing with 2 or 3 sprays of testors dullcoat brings the finish back down to a great flat
Sorry I haven’t any experience for the grey but I would experiment with some tinting to get the right match - you can also always weather the final product. I understand that this is the easy way out for a less than perfect colour match - works for me.
