Those scales are here, just not as popular.
There are American and Canadian members of “The Gauge ‘3’ Society” -although it is normally seen as a UK prototype scale the G3 loading gauge encompasses The four main European loading gauges and an North American loading gauge loco would not look out of place. Here is an NYC 'S" motor (mine) with a rake of LNER “Teaks” in the background -all Gauge ‘3’

All scales and gauges of model trains are available in the US, as are an infinite variety of custom scales if the modeler is willing to scratch build. Not all are available for ready purchase at the local hobby store, supply and demand determine what is on the shelf and obscure European scales are simply not popular in the US so there is no reason to sell them over the counter. However, everything is available via internet sales if one is willing to look and USPS, UPS or FedEx will be more than happy to deliver said item to your front door.
