I run n scale and I was just thinking what other scale can I run on N scale track?
none, no other scale works on n scale track. its the same for every other scale it only works for its specific scale track
HOn30 (HO scale, 30 inch or 2 and 1/2 foot narrow gauge). However the N scale ties are out of scale.
Ho standard gauge is also the same gauge as On30.
oh i didnt kno that thnx for correcting me i thought it was a different scale and wouldnt work
You were partly correct. Scale and gauge often get confused. The size and spacing of the N scale ties would not be prototypically correct. Also clearences are different. So if your thinking of running HOn30 and have a N scale bridge or tunnel using N scale clearence standards, then no, it won’t work.
A lot depends on how close to scale you need to be. Many narrow gauges started with track from a smaller scale. HOn30 got started with N. On30 started with HO track. Sn3 started with HO track (Sn3 1/2). Sn2 uses HOn3 track. G uses #1 track. The advantage is that you have a source of track, trucks, and loco mechanisms. When they prove popular enough, manufacurers start making scaler versions of the track, trucks, and locos.

Good point Paul. Remove every other tie and once the track is ballasted most folks won’t know the difference unless you tell them.
Only Peco makes commercially available HOn30 track that has scale ties and spacing. And it’s limited to flex track, left and right turnouts. Hand laid is the only other alternative.
N gauge has a rail spacing of 9 mm, Some of the scales that can be run on N-gauge track are:
In Europe and the USA 1/160 sale models represent standard gauge prototypes on N gauge track. This scale is very close to correct for the gauge. This is N scale.
Models of British prototypes are usually made to 2mm scale (1/148) even though they represent standard gauge prototypes, so the model trains are a little large for the track gauge. This is because of historic reasons in the toy/model industry.
Most prototype Japanese Railroads are narow gauge. Models of Japanese equipment is usually made to 1/150 scale, as this scale makes the track gauge correct for the Japanese prototypes.
HOn30 1/87 scale
On15 1/48 scale.
