Scanner frequencies

I am a lifelong railfan who recently stumbled onto Trains at my local newstand, and am finally getting some toys.[:)]

My question involves sacanner frequencies. I live in the Memphis, TN area, and we are served by several lines, and I understand that there is a set of AAR frequencies in the 150-160 band. My question deals with how I can locate the other frequencies, mainly used bythe separate lines, <including Amtrak, since the City of New Orleans comes through.>

I read some of the coments on scaners, and have looked as many of the others suggested at Radio Shack, and have almost decided on one. Any suggestions?

You might try this question on the TRAINS Mag forums; they get A LOT more traffic!

Welcome,there is a railroad radio forum at www.railroad.net/forums/ near the bottom of that page. I think it has link to various railroad frequencies and they also discuss scanners.
