Hello all,
I am a newbie here. I live in Denver, CO. Does anyone else?
I am looking for ideas on how to make trees and shrubs for my N-scale setup, for next to nothing, or free. I am broke. [:(]
I got a train kit for Christmas and love it. [:p] I just want to add to it and can’t afford it.
All replies are welcome.

Out where you are try sage brush. At the right time of year you can find branches that make acceptable trees, at least for O scale. Spray them with cheap hair spray or any other clear laquer (sp?). I did this a few years back but unfortunately it all stuck together on me into one clump on my way back east. Lichen when preserved/boiled in a 1 part glycerine and 3 part water solution with dyes makes good shrubs and trees.
I used to live in Denver many years ago.
You would be surprised at the different plants that can be made to look like trees and shrubs. Winter may not be the season to go out looking though, if there is a lot of snow on the ground. Find a field somewhere, or even along the side of the road, as long as you can safely leave your car, and start looking.
Many plants have branch structures that look like some kind of tree, the trick is to use your imagination, and then experiment a little.
By the way, when it comes to trains, you should really post your questions over on the Model Railroader forum, that’s where the N scalers hang out, and you will get more and better responses. This board is where mainly O gauge trains are discussed.
Thank you for the replies and advice. [tup]
My local hobby shop had a huge sale this weekend. I got some really cool stuff. [tup]
