Scenery colors

Question, l want to stained all my mountains with a flat tan color. Then add stains and or acrylic color washes for color and visual texture. What wash colors would be good for this without over doing it?

Thanks

I have yet to build my first mountain but I have been reading a lot of threads.

For starters I’d limit the tan color for grass and forest areas. To begin with colors used on the rock formations should be determined by the type of rock found in the area that you are modeling.

In my case it’s limestone country and there are even color variations from one place to another.

Here’s a link to a thread that i saved that you may find interesting

Stick with earth tones; ochre, umber, sienna. To give your rock faces more depth, make a thin wash using black. It will seep into the cracks and crevices. To heighten the effect, I drybrush white or antique white when I’ve got them the colors I want.
