Scenery Material under or around buildings?

I am finally reaching a point where I am getting some scenery in place, and am comming to the structures.

Do you install the scenery material under the structures, or around the structures, and matt medium the structures in place?

Thanks,

Kurt

I ran my material under the structures so when I move stuff it does not need to be touched up. As far as hedges and the like mine are not glued down so they can be moved as well.

One problem you might have that I had when I had a layout in my teen age years. If you use Plasticville buildings and light them from the inside, the buildings don’t have material covering the windows, so all the interiors of the buildings have grass on the floors when lit at “night”. Not exactly prototypical!

Something I have done with my plasticville structures to kee the light from coming through the cracks is I line inside with paper and use electrical tape in the corners and seams. Not only does this fill in the windows, but it keeps the glow from through the plastic and at joints, withou altering the structure. It also helps them to stay together without gluing.

Pretty much every structure on my pike has a wood “foundation”, to which I run the scenic materials up to the base of each structure. I’m of the If-you’re-not-gonna-see-it-why-cover-it tribe…

Thanks for the help!
