Scenery or electrical..scenery wins

did manage to hook up the rest of highway lights, but moved on to adding color to the grainery. Between the black roads, gray ballast , I decided they gray grainery needed an color upgrade.

One thing about close ups , all the mistakes are noticeable. Still bare without much scenery around

Looking good, ws. How did you go from grey to all of the varied brick shades and still have the motar/tuckpointing stand out like that? I really like it. Looks like a lot of time went into it. What mistakes? Older and somewhat rundown buildings around railroad yards abound with a patchwork of repairs and other quirks which is what makes them interesting noteworthy.

sorry about delayed response, didn’t have the reply box checked.

It sat on layout for sometime. The mortar done first (about two yrs ago) with thick granite paint and the bricks wipe clean. To paint the bricks I setup a palette of red oxide, raw siena, brown, white and some matt medium.

Each color was added without cleaning brush. Generally the red oxide was done, some was cut with raw siena to lighten color. The brown was cut with either. A flat edged brush about width of brick was used. The straight red oxide was done first. the brown was done last. When all the bricks were done the whole thing was dry brushed with a very light mix of raw siena, red oxide and white (near pink). Took about 3/4 of one NFL game.
