Scenery question...

Is it possible to achieve the same kind of results watering down regular drywall mud instead of gypsolite for mountains and terrains? Just wondering because I have a large bucket of drywall mud leftover from a home project. Thanks for your thoughts.

It’s been my experience that drywall mud doesn’t take well to thinning. I may get a little extra coverage but not much more.

I never thought about using the drywall mud for mountains but I also have a bucket sitting in the garage. Might have to do some experimenting.

I have used it before. Need to use thin coats or it will crack when drying. Best use is top coat on stacked Styrofoam.

Is sculptamold and gypsolte the same thing?

No, they are not the same thing.i

gypsolite is the best I have alot of drywall mud around but it cracks and has no texture to it. I found a place here in Denver that sells it and the cost is very reasonable.
