scenic accents glue for figures????

can anyone reconmend a good glue or cement for glueing figures on my layout so that they stay without falling over…also one that allow me to reposition the figures later…i have tried scenic accents glue following all thier directions but the results are dissappointing…Thank you, tadd_1020

Tad:

I was having trouble with the WS accent glue until I began filing the bottoms of the feet of the figures, and letting the glue set for about 20-25 minutes instead of the recommended 15. It pretty much works for me now, but I have to say that some of those WS figures have a pretty bad ‘balance’ on them, and have to be ‘propped’ near something (storefront, trees, mailboxes, etc) to hold them up. It’s either that or using CA, which unfortunately, makes the figures permanent.

Perhaps another poster will have some better ideas.

I use Walthers “GOO” It’s a rubbery type glue that holds really well, yet allows you to reposition it later. Just take a fingernail or exacto knife to remove the old glue on the figure, then simply dab a bit on each foot and reposition at will. [;)]

I use Goop, a clear silicon in a tube that is sold under various titles such as Household Goop, Plumber’s Goop, etc. I think it is all the same regardless of the label on the tube.

I use Aileen’s Tacky Glue, a craft store product. It sets up pretty quickly, and holds firmly, but just a bit of a tug will remove the figure.

When I set a figure down, I usually wait to see which way it’s going to fall, and then prop up that side with an automobile or some other convenient item.

I followed the directions on the Scenic Accents Glue and found it to work very well. This guy has been standing in the street now for a couple of years, and I’ve even changed his car a couple of times. [swg]

It also works well if you want to move a figure to a new location - just pick 'em up and plop 'em down, with no need to apply more glue. It doesn’t appear to leave any residue, either.

I gave up on glue for figures in 1987. I drill a small hole in the bottom of the figure, insert a pin held with CA and then stick the figure to the layout with the pin. It works great on wood (drill a little pilot hole and when you want to move the figure you can fill the tiny hole with a dot of ground foam) or for a foam scenic base simply push the pin into the ground. The pin can be a piece of music wire .030 give or take, or you can use a sewin pin etc, whatever will work for the size figure you have.

Been using good ol’ rubber cement for years. Let it set up for a couple of minutes and it works like a charm. It’s cheap and available just about everywhere.

I want to thank all of you for your helpful answers…Tadd_1020

Try this stuff. It lets you stick and then remove the figures all you want.
