When I did a search by state, it shows 21 entries for California, but when I click on California, there are only 14. Oregon shows 2, but clicking on it says there are none. Not a verys useful site in my opinion.

The difference in count is probably due to the date range. If you do the basic search by state, it only shows events in the next 3 months, yielding a smaller number than the overall count. If you play around with it for a few minutes, there are some useful features and you’ll find all the events. Not perfect, but it does work if you learn how to use it.
For example, the two Oregon events that eluded you are:
