COWARD, SC –
Authorities are investigating a train crash that happened Thursday afternoon in Florence County.
A CSX train collided with an 18-wheeler at U.S. 52 and Williams Road near the New Hope community just north of Coward.
S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins said It happened at 3:20 p.m. Collins said the truck’s driver got the vehicle stuck on the railroad crossing and the train was unable to stop before colliding with it.
No injuries resulted from the crash. Collins said the truck’s driver was able to get out of the vehicle before the collision.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the S.C. Highway Patrol assisted CSX investigators at the scene.
