The archives makes reference to a scout motor replacement but gives no specifics. Are replacements still available? If not, I’d appreciate some advice from anyone who has repaired one.

The 246 was built in 1959, and uses the 246-100 motor.
The newer 1960 motor 246-200 with a serrated bottom was re-engineered, and should prove to be a better motor.

baberuth73, you may need to buy another Scout type loco to get a motor replacement. I didn’t see whole 246 motors at any of the parts groups I normally shop with.
