Scranton Train Show?

Hi guys,

Anybody going to the scranton train show Jack Sweeney runs at the Radisson this year? I know it is next weekend, just not sure what day and times (haven’t been to my LHS since before christmas, thus forgetting all the details)

Correct information:

49th Model Train Show

at the Lackawanna Station Hotel

Sunday March 4, 2007 9am-2pm

Admission: 4.00

Easy access to the Lackawanna Station from I-81. Take exit 185 (Central City Scranton) and you will see the station as you approach the city of Scranton. It will be on the left, large tall Gray building. Also see Steamtown National Park or shop the Steamtown Mall nearby.

Information call Jack Sweeny at (570-342-1963)

(from a flyer I collected at another nearby show)

Thank you so much!!!

Steamtown is great. I dont live locally, but I did stop in to visit the park. I highly recomend that you take the shop tour.

Yes, Steamtown is great. But they won’t be running any trains til April. electric The Trolley Museum/ride next door to it won’t be running til then either. Bummer. As the show is over a 2pm, I was thinking of going for a ride. But will have to wait. Will see.

I’m only 1-1 1/2 hrs away, so easy trip for me, anytime.

I’m just 40 minutes away, and my next door neighbor is a big wig at the trolley museum. I haven’t been there since I was a kid, so I’ll have to go this summer (they are offering rides in the cab this summer). If anybody is going, I’d love to meet up with them at the show!

For those 17 and older, upon signing a release of liability and forking over $50.00 extra at Steamtown National Park on certain days can (or could starting last year) ride in the CN Mikado Steam engine cab with the engineer and fireman!!. I did it, recommend it highly, and hope to do it again. Awesome!

Oh wow thanks for that info, I’ve already been there 3 times, looks like I will go again if I can do this. I’d gladly pay $50 for a cab ride in a steam loco.

Check the website. I haven’t looked yet. It was worth the $50. It’s from a position you may never see no matter how many steamers you ride. I may do it again this summer or not. We may go in search of other running steam tourist trains this summer. If not we are very close to Steamtown. I was thinking of volunteering there a day or two maybe.

Enjoy it!

OOPs! forgot the link:

Steamtown National Historic Site

hehe I know the web page, no worries. Last time I was there I did the caboose ride. The closed the line just as I got there - then the guide said I could join in if I wanted to climb up in the cupola. Well DUH! Twist my arm why don’t you?

One of these days I WILL get to Portola and run the locomotive, too.

–Randy

Yes we have been looking into into the diesel driving experience. That may draw our attention this summer. I’m not sure what this Portola you are talking about it, but if I can find it, I’ll check that out. I’d love to be the engineer on a steam loco.

Well if you are going to the Scranton show, have fun!
