The pictures are not my and I’m not trying to make trouble. The pictures you see have the name of the photographer on the bottom side. [yeah]All the pictures are in public website. The purpose for the screensaver is to share railroad photos with the railfans and discuss them. I hope I clarify your question. [#welcome]
Here’s what the forum policy has to say about posting copyright material:
Please respect copyright material. If you want to share copyright material with our users, please link to it. Don’t take a story from another Web site and post it in our forum. Don’t take a photo that you don’t own the rights to and use it in our forum. [emphasis mine]
So, that means that if you didn’t take the picture yourself, you aren’t to post it here on the forum. You can, however, provide a link to the picture.
I’ve removed the [img] tag from the pictures and activated the link so that it is viewable by clicking on it. Please use this method from now on when display pictures that are not your own. Thanks for your consideration.
I respect trains.com policy, but I must admit it’s rather bizarre to me. The site in question allows hotlinks and puts bugs in the photos so that they will be shared I would think.
Rules are rules. The speedometer in my truck goes up to 120 mph and I can get it up close to that speed but there isn’t a public road in the US of A where I can legally drive that speed.
As a point of accuracy, the photos to which you direct us are NOT screensavers. They could be used as wallpaper, though, which is what I believe you mean.
I’m glad you mentioned this. My dad (a retired nuclear engineer) is unable to comprehend the difference between wallpaper and screen saver. I’m not sure what it is, lol, but some folks seem to have such problems with these new fangled comp-u-tater things.
Note: Yes, one could indeed put a bunch of train pics in a directory (folder) and use the slide show screen saver supplied with Windows to display them, but I’m 99% sure this is not what the OP intended. I know it’s not what my Dad woulda intended, hehe.
