screwed up,again

yesterday I videoed a install I did on a p2k gp unit and noted a clicking sound ,gears again . so I opened up and changed out today but clicking still there ,opened back up and found metal chips in the gears box’s, I guess using a shop vac and masking tape while doing some minor dremel work on the frameweight was NOT a good idea to save a bit a time, rather than disassembling .now I get to take it completely apart [banghead]

So the pcs are non magnetic and very small , would soaking in alcohol and a fine brush be the ticket after full disassembly of gear pods ? since its non magnetic it shouldn’t get in the bushes or would it ?

help thanks Jerry

Jerry,

Mineral spirits would be better than alcohol. I would flush/rinse/swish everything afterward in alcohol though. [Edit: I agree with the canned air comment below]

Tom

Use canned AIR to blow out the small pieces.

Hot soapy water and a rinse will do just fine.

Pete

hot soapy water ,I guess as long as it cuts the lube that is holding the particles ,yes ,of coarse make sure its dry before assembly ,I like it , no smell…Jerry

Hot soapy water and a toothbrush to scrub off the grease. I would not use anything stronger for risk of damaging the plastic.
