We wish you well through the next storm. May the only water on your layout be made by Woodland Scenics.
Amen! I have relatives that are right in the projected path of Wilma. From what is being said by the National Weather Service, Wilma is right now the strongest Altlantic Basin Huricaine ever recorded. They expect she should weaken by the time she crosses Florida, but will still be a major, major huricaine. We really don’t need the damage that another catagory 5 huricaine would do to a low lying sand bar right now! Stay safe all you in harm’s way!
Thanks folks! I am not really getting worked up over this one, yet anyway! They have no real idea what this thing is going to do once it clears the straights. In 1998 hurricane Mitch had pretty much the same track expecting to go north when it cleared Cuba. Well it ended up going south and was the first hurricane in 20 years to strike Honduras directly. So once thursday night rolls around we should know for sure if life sucks in the Florida Keys. My wife is a state trooper here and the Station is less than two blocks away and is supposed to be good for a cat 5??? So if it does turn bad me and the three kids (Dogs) will be knocking on their door. Chances are it will hit just north of us and be down to a cat 2 or maybe 1 by then. Katrina passed directly over us at a cat 2 and we did fine. The good news is the last four storms have pretty much taken down all the weak trees so there is not much else to fall except leaves. Another thing, during the last four storms we never lost power. They have a bullet proof system down here. Up in pensacola we would lose (oh C**p is that supposed to be loose) power long before the storm hit. OK I’m rambling so I will stop. Thanks for everyones concern.

Well…it broke a record already…
…Perhaps Wilma will break another record: Fastest to be downgraded from a Cat. 5 to a Tropical Depression…
…But then, of course, it would just break the record for fastest intensification.
I wish you all the best…Yet another Florida special.
Good luck, hope you hold out as well as during the last one…
Matthew
Terry,
Yeah… you’re right. We lose power if you look at the power lines the wrong way.[:D]
After Ivan, it was two weeks before they got it restored. Dennis took them a little
less than a week. When we were grazed by Katrina, it was only off for a couple of
days.
Like I said in my email, y’all hang on to something and be careful. Make sure you
keep us informed. Good luck, Dave
Thank you, Mr. Beasley.
Still projected to hit south of the Tampa Bay area, but that can change. Many up here are preparing.
There’s is just one thing that absolutely annoys me! Last year a friend of ours bought plywood from Home Depot. After the storm came through, she took it back!! My question: WHY?? Keep the plywood in the attic! What about future storms? Financial hardships are understandable but to go back year after year to buy plywood whenever a hurricane threatens seems much more costly.
Hopefully we’ll fair better than our friends in New Orleans.
Unlike New Orlean’s clowns—oops, I mean mayor and his aides, city officials here are better organized. Tampa’s transit bus system has been placed on Alert Status and is ready to be mobilized to evacuate hospitals and residents without transportation.
Well the latest Advisory puts in most likely thru Naples as a weak cat 2 or cat 1. I listen to the NOAA folks not the local yokels. THe media likes to grandstand these things. But if all goes as they suspect it should not be too bad. Of course it could still pull a sneaky. I have four cases of MRE’s (that I purchased). I happen to like MRE’s myself so I am looking forward to some good ole “beans and weanies” with a little Tobasco of course.
