Help please - I would like to get the body off an Athearn unit (see thru radiator version).

The rear coupler box is off but front one is stuck like it is part of the body.

What is next if I do release it?

Being a D&RGW unit (mostly black) it is hard to see parting lines.

If it is like the SP unit I took apart, you have to remove the couplers on both ends, plus 1 or 2 screws on the underside of the frame. Swing the trucks from side to side so you could see the screw, they should be phillips head.

You gave me the courage to grab the coupler box with small pliers.

It turns out that some paint had got between the box and body to act like glue.

Body just lifts off then (the coupler box screws extend into the body via frame).
