LONG LIVE NORFOLK SOUTHERN[bow]

London, Ontario.

I wish it were in Michigan, too. Or, better yet, in McCook, Illinois.

They still assemble some of the components in La Grange, but the units as a whole are built in London. I work with some of the engineers from EMD and sometimes get to see some neat stuff

I’d give an arm to do/see some of that stuff!

The BHP SD70 was the last new unit I got to see. Very interesting

Back in 1984 when I worked for a division of Singer Co. that made training simulators for the airlines I went to LaGrange to try and cut a deal with EMD to sell them (and thus the railroads) locomotive training simulators (we ended up building one for Santa Fe) in significant quantities. While I was not successful, these trips did enable me to tour the LaGrange EMD plant a couple times and see them making Amtrak F40’s, all kinds of SD40-2’s, etc., etc., etc. VERY INTERESTING INDEED.
