Looking at switching over to DCC. I’ve got a Ontario northland SD75I (Athearn Genesis) and a CN SD-35 (IHC). How dificult to switch these locos over to DCC. New to the hobby and any info would be appreciated. [?][?]
If the SD75I is a newer Genesis model, it should be no problem.
The IHC would be VERY difficult however, as to my knowledge, no IHC units are DCC ready.
The Athearn is very new. Just got it not too long ago. Thanks for the info
Contrary to Jonathon’s note above, IHC diesels are very easy, because of thier isolated motors. It is a bit more than plugging a decoder in like the Genesis models, but still pretty basic. You will need a hard wired decoder, and will have to cut and solder wires.
