Hi there, recently I bought a fantastic 54" long poster of a Union Pacific Big Boy. The poster was what I call a ‘profile’ or ‘press’ photo in that it is taken exactly side on (sometimes multiple shots cropped together) so that you can see the whole locomotive evenly and in great detail(without anything else in the picture).’ I often see smaller images of the same nature (be it as a drawing, photo or diagram) in various railroading books - usually accompanied with information about the locomotive. Now I find myself really wanting other posters of this type as there are a number of ‘giant’ locomotives that I would also like to hang on my wall; I would love to have an Alleghany, Yellowstone or a Cab-forward for example. Can anyone here point me in the right direction of a website or store that may sell these types of ‘long’ locomotive posters/prints? Thank you in advance - all the way from Australia!
I wish I could help, but you sound like you’re way ahead of me in the success department. I have never seen, anywhere, such a poster or even the marketing for such posters. You might be better off contacting the source of the one you have and picking his/her brain.
Photo posters are available from Sams club here in the US among others but they aren’t cheap. You supply a photo and they will enlarge it for you.
