How do you search the forums for a specific topic? When I use the Search function at the top of the page, all it seems to search is the magazine content, not the forums. I. This perticular instance, I’m looking for members experiences with the various computer control systems.
Santa Fe,
Use the “Search the Community” text box on the right side of the page. It’s right above the list of “Users Online”.
Tom
If your browser doesn’t show the ‘Search Community’ option at the right side of the page scroll down to bottom of the forum. You’ll find it there.
The search function is better than is used to be but is still lacking. I have found the best way is to use Google with the site option. For example, if wanted to search for “cutting foam,” I would using the following Google search:
cutting foam site:cs.trains.com
The results are much more concise than using the imbedded search in the forums.
To help me remember the address, what does .cs stand for
Good trick. I didn’t know about the “site:” feature in Google. It works like a charm. The two search functions built into the website are close to worthless. The search box at the top only searches the magazine content, not the website. The lower down search box “Search the community” either fails to find anything, or returns hundreds of entries that have NO relationship to your search object. Google is much better.
Camp Sacagawea. (I have no idea.)
Bruce,
There are 262 possible meanings of the acronym, abbreviation or slang term, CS.
My guess would be ‘‘Community Service’’.
Frank
Actually, I would guess it stands for “Customer Support” or “Customer Service.”
As far as I know the ‘cs’ is Community Servers.
