Do the trolleys have regenerative brakes to recover some of the energy spent going uphill and help keep the battery charged?
I grew up in the Boston area and we had streetcars running on routes with trackless trollies and yet they had no troubles with crossing of lines. The streetcars used the hot leg for power while the trackless trollies used both wires. Is there a voltage difference between what the new streetcars use and the existing overhead network?
