John,
Very, very, nice. Simply incredible detail.

Is that Atlas track?

Jon…It looks great!!! I have the Black Diamond Railway video and have a question; how many rock molds did you use? They say on the video that they only used seven different molds. [:O] Do you plan to use any tree bark as they did on the video?

I think you were smart building this outside, because of the water. I liked the retaining wall built from masonite in the video. I have been using the same brand of paint on my bridge piers only a different color.

The Hudson is by 3rd Rail/Sunset models and the track is by Atlas. Thank you for the compliments!!! I hope everything ties together!!!

Buckeye, Funny you should ask!!! I only used 2 of the 7 molds from the video! If you’re interested let me know and I’ll give you the Scenic Express model numbers. The important thing to remember is to crush up dried plaster and add it to the mix. Even MORE important is to spray the crap out of it after applying it with lots of water so the jagged edges show through!!!

Here ya go!

Congrats Jon, looks fantastic. The ballast is especially good looking. It looks just like SP cinder ballast. [8D][:)][:)][:)][:)]

I only have two rock molds, too. Embedded in my rocks are deck screws that helped me attach the rocks to the foam. In the bottom right hand side of this photo there is a dark green spot of grass. It is covering up the head of a wood screw.

Thanks for the note about adding the crushed plaster. The jagged edges do make a difference. [tup]
