Securing code 83

I am starting a new layout but am switching from code 100 to code 83. The main difference I’ve noticed is code 83 does not have any nail holes in the ties. Just wondering how I should secure the track down. The layout is on plywood with a cork roadbed.

thanks

Turn the track over.

The holes are in the ties, just not all the way through. Use a push pin to open the holes all the way up or a drill in a pin vise.

Then to get rid of the big black nail heads just a dab of paint I assume

Once the track is ballasted you can pull the nails out. If you then weather your ties a bit the holes will virtually disappear.

I used chualk to “glue” mine Atlas Code 83 to the cork and plywood. Just enought to hold it down (about equal to a thin coat of paint and you should be able to see the cork through th chaulk). You can run trains in 20 minutes, has a work time of about 5 minutes and easy to re do.

This is getting to be a very popular way these days.
