Seeing if this works

If this works that will be cool and I’m going to have to figure out what exactly I did. If not oh well. It should though, I think. Not sure.

Cool. It kinda worked. This is some of my loco roster if anyone cares. I thought it was going to do something else. I think.

confused,
Jeremy

GO PACKERS!!![:D]

is this what you wanted?

I have three recommendations

a) try to keep any image to 600pixels wide (maximum), that way we don’t get those *&^)($#@#% scroll bars

b) compress your image to be about 20 to 30K

c) don’t forget to add the forum code before and after the image.

Oh yeah,

d) if you need some help figuring out how to do the above, let us know.[;)][:)]

Uh yea I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Which forum code?

Thanks,
Jeremy

I’ll try this.

HOLY %$#% IT WORKED!!! I am now a computer god!!! well not really[:D]

Thanks
Jeremy

Sure we care! I always enjoy seeing pics of someone’s layout and trains.

Any pictures of passenger trains in operation? I’m nuts about passenger consists, ya know.[:D]

This is the only passenger I have at the moment. Ihave 4 more passsenger cars coming in the mail to add to it.

Thanks for the help Rhb_HJ

Thx for sharing that passenger pic Juby. Now if we could just get you a RI Rocket consist…[8D]

I’ve read many post requesting help on a matter and some of the replies were extremely vague. I know not everyone does this but this would be a great tool to help someone who has a problem that could be fixed just by seeing the what needs to be done. Also I hear alot of people brag about how good they are and here is a way to prove it or show those of us amatuers how a pro does it. Just a thunk.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I’m suprised nobody noticed my pride and joy in the first picture, middle loco. Can anyone guess what it is?

You’re welcome!

Forum code for pictures is remove the asteriks for use.

If you look at the format bar it is the fourth from the right.
You get pop help if you hover the cursor over any of the format buttons.

In order to try out what the different buttons do just open a reply but instead of posting, check with the “Preview”.

Most of these forums are very user friendly, especially the ones that use forum code. It’s like anything else, you have to learn how to use the different elements.

Its a…cow!

But what kind cow. I prefer cabless[:D].

Thanks,
Jeremy

Not many vague replies from me.[;)][;)][:D]

Anyway you’ll need to check if “freepgs.com” has a free (downlaodable) photo editing program in order to resize your pictures.

You can also download some free stuff from tucows.com (picture editing) then it’s just a matter of learning to use it.

OK lets have a look at your last picture (RI F-unit): it is 1632 x 1232 pixels . In order to fit on the forum without scrollbars you’ll need to reduce that to 600 x 453 pixels.
Then while you’re at it you reduce the bites size; as it is that is 443KB, but what you’re looking for is approx 20 to 30KB for a picture that is 600 x 453.

If everyone links to large pictures it will take much longer to load the different threads. So all those guys who are still on dial-up will thank you if you keep the pictures smaller.
And I’ll thank you for not having to scroll left and right or up and down.

One of my side lines is website design (for selected customers) and I always try to design in such a way as to load very quickly and be easy to navigate. That means I have to keep things lean and mean.[:I][:I][;)]

something happened to the first picture. So the answer is a C44-9B.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Lookin good, and you don’t have to worry about anyone messing them up.[:D] I always did like that shade of blue, almost like GN Big Sky blue.

Not bad. One passenger car makes a train! hang in there! I have one Kato Business car and now need a train to use it for.

Very nice work.

I am curious as to what camera was used? I just started taking (Or trying to) small pictures for the net and am learning!

Oh yeah, one more note.

Depending on where you store your pics on the Net i.e. large provider with lots of traffic and slow servers or med provider with fast servers it may take a while before the pictures load. Sooo that’s another thing to keep in mind.

I have found that pictures stored in your “free webspace” (provided by your ISP) generally load quicker than if they’re stored at one of the “free picture” storage places. The findings aren’t scientific, just what I observed.

Those are some great looking models! I especially like the PA with the passenger car!
