Obviously someone at UTU is riled about the safety award. A history of intimidation? I have no idea whether they do or dont intimidate injured employees but it sure is an inflammatory charge and I thought -wow-this guy qualifies to post here
I don’t know about “intimidation,” but many industries “discourage” the reporting of accidents and injuries, especially minor ones.
Mr. Wilner has been around the block a few times.
I’m also pretty sure that the UTU offices have some specific cases on file concerning NS’ habits.
I know I would be VERY hesitant to report an injury. According to my employer there is no such thing as an accident. Any iinjury I got on the job would have to be my fault because we have rules for everything. If I were to slip on ice that would be my fault because I was not careful enough when I was walking. Bottom line is that all accidents seem to end being the fault of the injured party, according to the company.
