Self driving cars have passengers, planes on autopilot have pilots. The article does not say if the trucks will still have an attendant.
I recall that one container port in Europe has rubber wheeled container movers running between dockside and the stack storage area adjacent, they and the stack row cranes all under the control of a single master computer. Likewise, there are many automated warehouses - the same thing on a smaller scale. People who work there know to keep clear of the moving machinery.
Self/auto-controlled vehicles can work - if they operate in an environment free of random intrusions. Toss one uncontrolled vehicle into the mix and things get dicey. If they operate on public highways, please tell us where so we can avoid those routes.

Cars that don’t require a driver to steer on the freeway (i.e. self steering) are about three years off according to Ford and Nissan.
