Could someone please tell me if the CPR Selkirk class 2-10-4 was ever released as a plastic model? A good friend of mine is looking for one to place on shelf display layout so operation is not a concern. I do know that Bachmann did release the 2-10-4 Texas class in plastic for US road names. I would appreciate any help as brass is not an option for this person.
Unless the Selkirk released by the old KitMaster line of models, or Airfix, there hasn’t been any released as a plastic model. To the best of my knowledge, the only models released of this locomotive have all been brass.
Plastic Production models of a Selkirk, no. A kitbash conversion yes.
Some time back an avid model railroader did post pictures of an IHC 2-10-2 which he converted to a CPR T1a Selkirk 2-10-4.
I wish I had kept a copy of the posting. His effort resulted in a very convincing model.
As a coindicence on E-Bay very recently a Vendor was offering a conversion model of a CPR 4-6-2 and also a CNR 4-6-4. Both of these models were very well done and when compared against the appropriate brass model.

This is the link to the CPR model, I suggest you contact the vendor as he may be able to give you some additional infomation on acquiring the necessary parts necessary for any conversions.
That was me. That Selkirk was a far cry from any brass model, but it was fun to do. David B
