Selling Question

Hi there everyone. Okay first, I’d like to say that yes, This is a shame that this is happening and I know I should’nt do this but I absolutly have no choice. I have a pretty big train collection of mostly lionel. I have to sell all of my collection to help pay for the cost of a new Dirtbike What are some good sites I can post an add for my stuff. I’ve got quite a bit and Im willing to let it go for pretty decent prices. I’ve basically got everything from the Intermodal crane to SD40’s to track and Transformers. Pretty much a whole entire layout. Any help at all would be absolutly great! Thanks alot. Dillon Harrison

Ebay would be the quick and dirty option. Depending on the amount of effort you’d like to expend, you could dump everything on there in one big lot, or list the individual items. You’d probably get more listing individual items, but then might also end up with a whole bunch of unsold trains, and would have to pay a big chunk of money in listing fees and final value fees.

As an alternative, you might try the for sale forums at both O Gauge Railroading and Model Train Journal. Both are free, and if you price things right, folks will beat a path to your e-mail box. Just put together a list, or alternatively an Excel speadsheet, and give a an idea of what you’d like for everything.

TRY SVCTRAINS.COM. THEY HAVE ALOT OF BUY SELL ADS.

Try www.choochooauctions.com as they sell more trains than ebay and are decent to deal with. Be sure to use something like PayPal or another electronic pay option so you will be protected from people who don’t want to pay! Or if dealing with personel checks make sure it clears the bank before shipping. Money orders are an another option as you must put up cash to buy them first, people can get an inexpensive money order from either the post office or Wal-Mart, banks charge up to $8.00 for a money order & the post office only charges about $1.25 per hundred dollars.

Thats to bad you got to sell them, but do yourself a favor and save a bit of track, few cars, favorite engine, and a power pack, and pack it away for now. You might get the bug again latter down the road, and at least you have something from the first epic of MR and Toy trains.
