Selling trains

As anyone have any dealings with Dan’s trains for selling a large amount of stock to. Thinking of going to On30 but have a 40 year amount of equitment to get sold off, don’t want to mess with eBay to much red tape.

You didn’t say what scale trains you have to sell, but Yahoo Groups has HO Interchange and N Scale Yard Sale. These are good options that you may want to look into. No fees, no restrictions.

Dunno about sellign to Dan, but I have made many purchases from him and he is always easy to deal with and very up-front and honest. I don;t expect he’d be any different to deal with when selling to him…

I sold some of my excess to Dan and got a fair price.Dan does look for cars and locomotives in their original boxes with inserts…Dan pays UPS shipping.

Once he receives and looks over your models he will offer a price and once a price is agreed to then its a quick turn around. My experience was less then 10 days once I shipped the models.

If I was to sell more of my excess I would not hesitate to sell to Dan.

I have a huge HO collect, but one draw back is I do not keep the boxs just to many sitting around taking up space. I also never though i would want to get out of HO.

Sorry I didn’t mean to mislead.

Some of the items I sold didn’t have boxes either and he still bought them…

If I was to sell all my HO about 30% would have boxes and that 30% is my newer RTR models.

Thanks for the help i’ll give him a call. What would you say you get out of your stuff % wise.

I would say 60% which is pretty good for a bulk sale.

Wow, 60% you say. That is the highest return rate I have ever heard of from a dealer.

When you have quality models they tend to pay a tad more by the bulk since they will piece them out and make money on each engine and car…I suspect if I sold/traded them to a shop in Columbus I would have lost my shirt in the deal and would think myself lucky if I got 20%…

I thought about selling at a train show but,I would had expenses to pay and I didn’t want the hassle of selling through HO yard sale or e-Bay…
