While browsing the web I found this.
The Chinese military has a 900 x700m outdoor layout of a 450 x350km (279.45 x 217.35 mile) landscape, though it is just mountains and natural terrain of a border area . It’s impressive they have the area to construct that model. Imagine what an HO, N or Z scale modeler could do if they have the same amount of space! From doing calculations it appears models would have to be 1/500 for an exact match, and the smallest commercial railroad models are Z scale.
Wow! If I could dispose of all this area, provided I’m a Z-scaler, I could model the Tehachapi Pass and all the area between Mojave and Barstow without any selective compression!..[:D] But for the time I have to manage with a 20 x 13 ft room for this purpose, and only with the area between Bakersfield and Summit, without the Loop…[:(]

I think if I had it that bad, I’d just buy a real railroad.
MEE TOO!!!
