Semiquincentennial Locomotives

During the Bicentennial celebrations, quite a few railroads had special paint schemes honoring it. Of course, back then there were many more railroads.
I’ve mentioned here that I’m burned out on Class Ones and only follow a few Class Twos and Threes that are orderly and interesting. I must be a good judge because three of my top four all have special 250th units. They are the W&LE, LSRC and R&N. Come on Union, you’re my fourth!

The class ones don’t do fun stuff like that no more. The shareholders only want more more more dividends. Booooooooo.

Genesee & Wyoming had Kyle RR at Phillipsburg, Kansas, paint the former 4447 into a 250th America unit that rolled west towards Goodland, Kansas, for the first time 9 November 2025. Quite a striking scheme with an eagle in flight.
