Sending e-mails among members of this forum

Hi guys,

I would like to let y’all in on the difference between the old MRR forum and the new MRR forum program’s way to personally e-mail each other.

The old way was a bit simpler. All you had to do was type in a response and then click the “reply” button and it would send it back to the person who sent the original email to you. It all went back to you via the forum.

The new forum program is a bit different. You’ll have to highlight and “cut” the person’s e-mail addy (or write it down and type it in the address bar) you are replying to by starting an entirely new e-mail if you want to reply to someone’s original e-mail sent to you thru the forum.

I found out the hard way when replying to a question and the sender didn’t get it back because i returned it thru the forum, that now, won’t allow anyone to reply back from original e-mails sent to them…does any of this make sense?..(another reason i don’t care much for the new forum format)…chuck

Actuall all I do is click on the email button on the bottom of the post and the name shows up to sender and from me.

Yep, I agree with you Chuck. I have the same clunky experience every time I respond to a forum generated email.

Yes it’s an extra step but probably necessary in these days of spam and spyware. The old Snitz board simply set the Reply-To field of the email to the person sending it rather than usign Kalmbach’s address like the new one does, that’s why you could reply to forum emails on the old system and send it to the correct person. If you reply to emails from this one, you send it to an unmonitored mailing address at Kalmbach.
But then it used to be you could post things like your email address in open forums and not worry. Now, screen-scrapers come along and harvest such thingsfor the spammers and spyware senders.
What needs to happen is a REAL CAN-SPAM law, not the useless thing we have now. But don’t hold your breath, not with the majority of the government made up of a bunch of technologically impaired something or others. They have no real clue what’s going on out here in the trenches. Like my limited bandwidth being darn near saturated with spam. It doesn’t make it to my inbox thanks to filters, but it does have to come over my wires to get to my server to be filtered. It shouldn;t even be there in the first place

Well i emailed cw, lets see if he got it on the email buttom at bottom!!!

rrebell,

I got your e-mail but you did not include a personal return e-mail address…I tried to use the ones listed from the forum and it would not let me return it to you… (it even says: do not reply to this e–mail) even tried to highlight, cut, and paste, the addresses in several new letters and it still did not work…without your personal e-mail address i could never reply to anything you send me from the forum…chuck

Me sorry, I thought it would automaticly give it to you.
