Senior Editor Roger Carp previews Lionel Trains: The Golden Years, 1955-59

Hi Roger,
You know, I have already ordered this issue and I am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival! Thanks again for your great work.

A very nice review of the “Lionel Golden Years” - I was about 9 years old during the Golden Years and many years later i have a operating layout. Look up my layout on “You Tube” for you and the readers.

Great video…looking forward to the issue!

For all of us who love Lionel and toy trains this is a must have issue. Most of us in the hobby first became aware of Lionel in those years

That being said the mid '90s to the present wil one day be considered in the same light due to TMCC,Fastrack etc.

I’ve already reserved my copy and have the first issue 50 thru 54. But you guys seem to forget that there were TWO other giants of toy trains, American Flyer & Marx. How about an issue on each one of them. They both made some grat toy trains in the Postwar era.

Really looking forward to this edition! This is a great period for Lionel - often overlooked in terms of the range and diversity of the product line. If you’re collecting from these years - some of the items are surprisingly difficult to locate in excellent in the box condition. I have collected many of the “Alco” sets - and love the color and action they provide.

The first issue, covering the 1950-54 postwar years, was a gem, so I’m really looking forward to the 1955-59 issue. Even though Lionel’s sales were starting to decline during those years, they still produced many fantastic trains & accessories. Keep up the good work. and I hope you plan on publishing yet another issue covering the remainder of the postware era!

Like every Classic Toy Train Magazine which I receive, this special featuring Lionel from 1955 to 1959 is anticipated to be filled with great stories and photos of those trains which gave me so much enjoyment.

anyone and everyone who is interested in this time period should take up a copy of this new magazine It will broaden your views .

should have save my lionel

I’ve ordered mine. Have the 1950-54 mag too. How about one covering MARX or American Flyer. They made wonderful trains during those years too!

Sounds like a good place to stop with a few “ginger ales” and watch some trains.

Great introduction for great vintage Lionel on my time. Cannot wait to receive this collector’s issue. I already have the Golden Years 1950-1954, great issue. Hope 1955-1959 is just as great. Keep these great issues coming.

Roger Carp always comes up with creative ways to capture the spirit of the age of the “Golden Years of Toy Trains.” His articles offer in-depth analysis and helpful advice for collectors as well as operators of model trains. I would like to see a similar edition for S gauge American Flyer trains and accesories during those golden years. There’s somthing magic about those post-war years and toy trains. Great video!

It was nice to see Roger Carp in action as he has become a legend in his own toy train time. My heart is stuck in the postwar Lionel period and Roger’s historical pieces are pure magic for me! If his name is attached to it, GO FOR IT! I ordered my special issue the moment it was announced. Lionel, Marx and Flyer were the “video games” of our day back then and it didn’t involve killing or stealing cars as a past-time on one’s computer, if I may be so bold to say!

I’ve already reserved my copy and can’t wait to get it. This is yet another opportunity to explore the fascinating world of Lionel post war trains. I’m reminded of America’s “You Can Do Magic”. “When you cast your spell…”

I received my first Lionel train at my age twelve. It was a red Comodore Vanderbilt. I convertedit to two rail configeration. That was a bad thing to do. Years later I returned it to Two Rail.I am ninety two years of age and I still have it. It’s the worse for wear but still runs. 'I’m still learning and love Toy Trains.Bill.

This Golden years 1955-1959 will complete the best of Lionel past history.
