SEPTA launches systemwide ‘Dude It’s Rude’ etiquette campaign

Granted it rhymes but we have gone from “sir” to “dude?”

It is sad that this is necessary.

Speaking of seat hogging, a couple of years ago I was on a Metro-North train out of Grand Central heading to New Haven. It was an evening train that was full and there were standees in most vestibule areas. One guy was sitting there with his suitcase on the seat next to him. This case was so big that it blocked two seats. There had been several announcements that the train was going to be crowded so all luggage had to go in the racks. This guy ignored them but when the conductor came through for tickets and the guy didn’t even look up from his cell phone when asked to move his luggage, the conductor pulled out his onboard ticket book and said that it was going to cost him money for a ticket for his suitcase or it was going to be put off at the next station with or without him. That got his attention and the suitcase was put in the rack. My guess is that most people will not pay any attention to these posters and nothing will change until they start enforcing some of the rules they have.

SEPTA has examples of the signs on their website

A friend of mine used to refer to riding SEPTA as taking the SEPTIC system.

Rude people only understand rude answers

Maybe SEPTA could be sent down to work with the congress.

@Roger Cole: I also call SEPTA SEPTIC. Unless I’m wrong, SEPTA ordered new rail cars again without bathrooms.

The RTA cars in Cleveland have the seats so close together it’s impossible to sit down without spreading your legs or turning to the side if you are over 6’1. Good thing it’s not too crowded.

I didn’t see a poster telling dudes we don’t wanna hear you rapp gangsta threats. Dude on RTA rapped about taking out his AK using it to let everyone know who is boss. Refrain, “let’s go to war N*++^”.
