September CTT Question

In the September issue of CTT, on page 52, there is an illustration of the Capatosta’s layout at the top of the page.

What do the numbers in the white boxes on the rails (some are negative, all have " after them) represent?

I know the black arrows are photo locations, but can’t figure out the others.

Jim

They’re the track elevations above, or below, “0” grade, the table top.

Thank you, Roger.

Jim

I noticed also that in some layout plans the layout is a bit simplified a bit to fit on the pages or something and you could have some problems finding fotoshoot places without the arrows. (I always try to locate the photo’s without using the arrows)
Sometimes you also can see that grades are impossible when using the trackplan shown, so rebuilding one of them also needs some common sense.

Besides that, this is my favourite part of the magazine, seeing what other trainenthousiasts have made and how it looks like…
