Rail worker pinned between rail cars
DUQUESNE, Pa. – A railway worker is in critical condition after being pinned between two train cars overnight, according to the WPXI Web site.
The man was trying to couple two cars at the Union Railroad in Duquesne at the time.
It happened around 11 p.m. Thursday (March 30) on the tracks under the Thompson Bridge.
Somehow, the two cars then moved together, pinning him between them.
The man’s arm was severed and he injured his leg.
He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
His name and condition are not being released.

That article leave a lot out that would help us know more about the situation. Were the cars coupled to a loco? (There may have been a loco, and there might not have been a loco.) Was the loco, set and centered? Were those cars on an incline? Were the cars under blue flag protection?
I am sorry to hear of this accident. This is a very good reason why railroads don’t want “guests” around. This man was an employee and still was injured.
I have to hook up hoses between engines on a regular basis. When you get two engines snowplow to snowplow there is no room for any movement whatsoever. This is a very dangerous part of the job.
I feel deeply for this man and his family.
Ouch. Two in one day. See Green River Fatality thread…
