Hey, Trains.com!
Talk to your web hosting folks and see if you can’t speed up forum access. It takes soooooo loooong to update the screen!
Any others have this problem, or is it me?

I think it might be you… Haven’t had any problems from where I sit.
Andrew
nope, no problems here either, either at home or away, both places are running fast.
Mine loads really slow as well.
I just upgraded to DSL 1.248 MPBS from dial up 56k .
When I was 56k I had no problem with this site.
There’s may be a few local factors in your area that effect your speed.
How about other rail forums???
I have fast response on Adlphia.net. I have slightly slower response on the Museum computers with DSL from Verizon. Verizon has been buying better servers in our area but the system demand has outpaced the server capacity. Both are slower in the afternoon after the kids get home from school. For most of us the path from the host server to our computers has many knotholes thay can cause slow response. If you are still a dialup user (telephone) you have trouble getting the 56K model to work faster than about 35K. In short, Kalmbach is doing good work; ask your provider (bill collector) why you are paying for poor response. LOL Lindsay
It is slow, the Pschyic Friends Network told me you would ask this question last week so I posted my answer then so it would show up now.

This is one of the best and fastest forums I visit. I’ve never had a problem.
Trains.com, Keep up the good work!
I’ve never had a problem. This’s the fastest forum ever!
This page loaded in 3.125 seconds. No problems here. Dave
Did it in .609 seconds this time. That’s less than a second for those keeping score!
I think its time you lose the dial up. Definitely not the web hosting folks. Must be you! Dave
One can ask you to consider “Adaware” and “Spybot” these two programs search for spyware and malicious small programs that may be hogging your connection reporting to the masters in places unknown. These two programs are free to the individual user.
Use of Norton Internet Security and Antivirus cuts down on ads etc being loaded as you download the forum or any other place you visit. “Shoot the Messenger” is a program designed to turn off your MSN pathway of spam advertisers which will slow down your conection.
Servers are robust machines. They are designed to handle multiple clients and are usually fault tolerant. I remember from the early 90’s the local library had literally a bunch of modems for each internet user going thru a gateway and dailup was the fastest thing going sometimes many users log on after school or on friday nights etc taxing the network.
I have since gone to DSL and have no problems here. Good Luck with your internet use and let us know how you do.
