You beat me to it… This is for all of you active and retired military people,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THIS COUNTRY! [tup]Without all of your hard work, dedication and sacrifice we would all be just a disjointed bunch of people watching our way of life disappear! You continue to impress me, Thank You.
Well lets see here, Mr. Dave is in North Carolina and Packers#1 you are in South Carolina so yeah as long as i am in the area what the heck! might as well drop on in [}:)].
With Pennsy service suspended, I’d better schedule more runs of my Marx-NYC O-gauge line to take advantage of the demand. My sympathies to those clients beyond the regions covered by both carriers. Perhaps those new fangled semi-trailer trucks can carry the load.
good luck Dave!! Safe move. I’m looking forward to seeing your move photo’s, I’m getting ready to design my mobile modulars (“built with moving in mind!”) and cant wait to see some inspiration!
Dave Vollmer, The latset news release out of Omaha is that they do not allow anyone with any connection or loyalty to the PRR to stay longer than the time it takes to eat a burger. You will have to move on… Lol. This is Uncle Pete country…and don’t you forget it…
Best wishes to you and your family with the move and re-settlement. It will be great to have you on the west side of the Mississippi. Maybe some of our western culture will rub off on you. Now that can’t be all bad. Right? right !!!
Heck we might even see the “Standard of the World” hauling coal drags out of Wyoming. Now that would be something to see.
Actually Galesburg’s Railroad Days is a shadow of what it used to be since the BNSF pulled sponsorship, IMHO. Though the accompanying model train show at the community college is still going strong. Not sure it’s worth a 9 to 10 hour drive though.
I would recommend the Boone and Scenic Valley RR in Boone, IA. It’s only about 4 hours away. There is also a nice little railroad museum just across the river in Council Buffs, which also houses a club layout. Who knows, they may be looking for new members. And of course you should keep on the lookout for the occasional steam excursions that the UP runs out of Omaha.
